We get it, not everybody has an abundance of time for a fully dramatic daily skincare ritual. However, you can get good looking skin without too much hassle.  Here’s some quick tips for what you should be doing to care for your skin on a daily basis.

Step 1: Wash your face (AM and PM)! Cleansing is the most basic and important part of skincare, however many people skip this step because they are too tired or too lazy. Work in a morning and evening cleanse so you can start with a fresh, clean slate!

**Tip: if you shower every morning when you wake up, or every evening before going to bed, put your cleanser in your shower!

Step 2: Exfoliate (AM or PM not both!). Depending on your skin, you probably won’t exfoliate everyday. However, exfoliating is a great way to slough off the dead surface skin cells and exfoliation leads to a clearer, smoother and more radiant complexion.

**Tip: we recommend exfoliating with either a chemical exfoliant or mechanical exfoliant 2-4 times per week. Check with your skin care therapist for the best exfoliant for your skin type.

Step 3: Moisturize/Protect (AM and PM). Lastly, it’s important to follow your exfoliation with a mosturizer and SPF before going about your daily activities. Depending on your skin type, in the evening, you might want to try a moisturizer that is richer and targeted for night-time use to help protect and treat your skin through the night.

**Tip: look for an SPF with UVA and UVB (broad spectrum) protection with an SPF of at least 30 for your face. Use daily regardless of the weather outside.

These steps are easy, take about 4 minutes max, and can be done before getting your day started and before tucking yourself into bed . For those of you that can handle more ‘complicated’ and ‘extensive’ skincare routines, i’d highly suggest a few serum treatments (Vitamin C for example) to help protect and heal your skin throughout the day and night.

Let's not go overboard people!

We might reminisce from time to time about how fun it was to frolic in our carefree youth, but it’s pretty likely that you wouldn’t want to actually re-live those youthful days, right? Doing it all over again might sound fun, but also a lot of work and new life lessons to learn…yikes!

So what’s this obsession with looking 20 or 30 years younger then? We want everyone to look their best, but there is no need to go overboard!

The family of Clarisonic brushes

I’m going to let you in on my little at-home secret weapon for the deepest cleanse ever – Clarisonic. If you haven’t heard of Clarisonic yet, it’s ok, you’re not totally living under a rock. However, if you don’t go out and buy one right after reading this, I might be a little concerned.

I came across the Clarisonic brush about a year ago when we brought it into our Facelogic spas and have been a die-hard fan ever since.  I was a skeptic at first, as always, but after using my Clarisonic brush in my AM and PM face washing, I’ve become hooked. My skin has never felt softer or smoother!

Most of you probably know what a Sonicare® toothbrush is by now because it has been wildly popular throughout the years. Well, the makers of that toothbrush took the same revolutionary sonic technology and created the Clarisonic skin brush. After performing numerous clinical studies, cleansing with the Clarisonic micro-massage action has shown to be twice as effective as manual cleansing.

While I can’t do clinical studies on myself to see if my skin is actually cleaner, I can tell that it’s smoother, my complexion is brighter and my occasional breakouts have subsided. What I have found to be the best part of this is that although it’s a handheld device, I can safely bring it in the shower too! I know we’re all in to convenience these days. Cleansing is your first step to better skin, and having the most-effective method of cleansing is a great bonus!

Skincare made easy!

We get asked this question all the time. How good can a $49 facial be? Is this just a mini teaser treatment? Is this a training facial?

We’ve heard them all. The truth is, we can’t vouch for other $49 facials, but we can vouch for our $49 facials at Facelogic. And let me tell you, they are good!

Our skin-savvy facial enthusiasts and die-hard Facelogic Spa customers will tell you, while the price tag might appear to be cheap, or at least cheaper than the typical $80++ facial down the street, our facials can hang with the best of ‘em. Our goal is that everyone, yes everyone, is educated about the importance of skincare and that spas and regular treatments can be accessible to more than just the rich and famous. That’s why we’re not charging an arm and a leg.

Our $49 facials offer our guests 50 minutes of relaxation, rejuvenation and results! Guests enjoy a one-on-one skincare consultation with a licensed esthetician (we call them skincare therapists), deep cleansing, steam, extractions, exfoliation and mask treatments. And, BONUS, during the ‘masking’  portion of the facial, our guests enjoy an extensive therapeutic upper body massage. It’s kind of like a 2 for 1 treatment!

We’re focused on results and consistency. Our contemporary, intimate setting is equipped with highly-trained skincare experts who focus on skin day-in and day-out. With our extensive product selection and variety of targeted skincare treatments, if you’ve got a skincare need, chances are we’ve got the answer.

'Close to the Heart' - Day Spa Magazine Article

Check it out! Facelogic Spa is featured in this month’s DaySpa Magazine for supporting cancer programs like Look Good Feel Better®. As a skincare spa, Facelogic touches women and improves their lives and confidence every day. As a breast cancer survivor, Facelogic founder, Sherryl Ford, wants to contribute funds towards the quality of life for current breast cancer patients. Every October, our spas raise money through membership sales, various service and product donations and events to donate towards a number of cancer organizations and programs that help the qulaity of life for patients battling the disease.

Additionally, Facelogic Spas donate time in October to give a select number of free facials to cancer patients in their local communities.

My go-to scrub!

What’s that one product you can’t live without? I know, who can pick just one product, right? I probably have 5 new ones every week! But there’s one product ‘category’, if you will, that I just can’t live without. Exfoliators…they are my favorite, period.

What other product can make your face feel soft, smooth and glowing everytime? Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my moisturizers and masks, but throwing in a little exfoliation a few times a week always puts a smile on my newly glowing face. Don’t over-do the exfoliation…believe me, I have and it ended up in flaking dry skin. Not the look I was going for.

So what’s all the hype about these exfoliators? Well, your skin is constantly generating new cells at the lower layer (the dermis) and sending them to the surface (the epidermis). As the cells get to the surface, they gradually die and slough off and the process starts again with new cells. As we age, this cell turnover begins to slow down and the dead cells don’t slough off as quickly, leading to a dull, rough appearance. The exfoliators are important because they aid in removing the dead surface skin cells and allowing the new cells to surface and create that glowing, hydrated look.

There are two forms of exfoliation that you can choose from, mechanical and chemical. The mechanical method uses an abrasive to physically rub off the dead surface skin cells. The chemical method uses enzymes and acids to dissolve the dead cells. There you have it, brighter skin is only a quick scrub or peel away!

So how do you decide on a product? Well, there are so many great options to choose from but I have a couple favorites that you have to try!

My go-tos for home:

• scrub? Facelogic’s Microdermabrasion Polish. The magnesium oxide crystals leave my skin feeling ultra clean and smooth. And the peppermint-y smell is insanely rejuvenating!
• peel? MD Skincare’s Alpha Beta Peel Pads. If you can’t get the professional version, this works wonders! It gives me a totally resurfaced feeling and always leaves my skin looking luminous.

I might try new products every week, but these have been in my beauty arsenal for quite some time, which gives kudos to the fact that they really work! Remember, everything in moderation people! I don’t want hate mail from people who become obsessive exfoliators to the extent that your skin starts peeling off!
