Try a peel today!

Professional chemical peels are one of the best methods of clearing up blemishes, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and leading to a beautiful even skin-tone. Chemical peel treatments are best when done in a series in order to see the best results.

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a method of exfoliation that uses a concoction of one or more acids to remove the damaged outer layers of the skin. As opposed to an exfoliation method like microdermabrasion that uses a machine to help slough off dead surface skin cells, chemical peels use the acids to help ‘melt’ the outer layers of the skin giving you a radiant glow.

For the peel newbies – here are some quick tips to prepare your skin for your peel:

- stay away from the sun exposure prior to and following your peel – your skin will be sensitive after a peel and sun exposure on your face can result in blistering

- unless otherwise told by your esthetician or doctor, steer clear of retinol, exfoliating products and waxing the first few days following a peel

**depending on the pH of the peel and your skin type, reactions and results will vary.

the under eye miracle product!

Products on the market are so advanced now a days that most skin issues can be greatly minimized with over-the-counter serums, creams and treatments. One such skin issue that typically plagues people at one time or another is dark under-eye circles. While heredity and lack of sleep are usually to blame for dark circles, there are many outstanding products that can help minimize and mask them, leaving you with bright eyes – the perfect compliment to a gorgeous face!

My top two favorite products for reducing the appearance of dark circles are Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare’s Lift and Lighten Eye Cream and Eminence’s Wild Plum Eye Cream.

Why?

- Lift and Lighten Eye Cream – utilizes light diffusers to minimize eye discoloration and is packed full of Vitamins A, C, E and Peptides, as well as licorice extract which is a skin lightening agent. This product works best when applied after your moisturizer. However, I love to use it throughout the day under my eyes if they need a quick ‘wake-me-up’

Celebrate your skin!

November marks National Healthy Skin Month, and in honor of this month, we at Facelogic Spa would like to give you some great ideas for how you can celebrate this month.

New to skincare? Start slow! Begin by incorporating a skincare routine into your daily schedule. Focus on 3 basic steps: cleanse, moisturize and protect. For a cleanser, we recommend something mild like theFacelogic Hydra Cleanse. In the AM, follow the cleanse with a hydrating moisturizer and SPF of at least 15 to keep your skin well hydrated and protected for your daily activities. Doing these three basic steps in the morning and again right before you go to bed (you can skip the SPF at night) will leave your skin clean, refreshed and will help you control/prevent minor skin issues.

For the more savvy skincare consumer, the best way to celebrate National Healthy Skin Month is to try a new facial or product this month!
