As I was taking a visual inventory of my skincare products in my medicine cabinet yesterday, I started to think about what products I had and what I was missing in my arsenal (yes, i’m obsessed with products). As any skincare enthusiast might do, I decided to make a list of what I need now that the sun is starting to peak it’s face out from the clouds. As we all know, skin changes from season to season. Especially if you live in climates where there are drastic difference between summer and winter weather. Depending on where you reside…spring is just around the corner! Springtime – my favorite time of year – the season to start anew. What better place to start than with your beauty routine? The winter’s harsh conditions have taken a toll on your skin and your relentless moisturizing and exfoliating can only do so much in the dry, cold weather. As the winter weather subsides (hopefully soon!) and the days become filled with warmth and sunshine your skin will begin to feel the positive effects.

Celebrate your skin!

November marks National Healthy Skin Month, and in honor of this month, we at Facelogic Spa would like to give you some great ideas for how you can celebrate this month.

New to skincare? Start slow! Begin by incorporating a skincare routine into your daily schedule. Focus on 3 basic steps: cleanse, moisturize and protect. For a cleanser, we recommend something mild like theFacelogic Hydra Cleanse. In the AM, follow the cleanse with a hydrating moisturizer and SPF of at least 15 to keep your skin well hydrated and protected for your daily activities. Doing these three basic steps in the morning and again right before you go to bed (you can skip the SPF at night) will leave your skin clean, refreshed and will help you control/prevent minor skin issues.

For the more savvy skincare consumer, the best way to celebrate National Healthy Skin Month is to try a new facial or product this month! Facelogic Vitamin C Defense Serum

For those of you who use serums, you already know that they are magical little concoctions created to treat all of your nagging skin concerns. But for those of you who don’t, let me shed some light!

What is a serum? A serum is basically a concentrated concoction of ingredients aimed to treat a specific skin concern. The concentrated ingredients are formulated in order to penetrate the skin with more potency and treat the specific concern at a deeper level. For example, Vitamin C, in its most potent form, typically comes as a serum. Based on what results you desire, there are hundreds (more like thousands) of serums on the market aimed to treat a variety of concerns including fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, dullness, redness, etc.

Why should you use serums? Serums will deliver better results when combined with your typical skincare routine because the highly-concentrated concoction is formulated to target a specific concern (i.e. fine lines) and deliver quicker results. While products like everyday moisturizers may contain some of a serum’s ingredients, they are not formulated in as high of a concentration.
