Clean up those brows!

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

As many of you know, well-shaped brows can make you look instantly better. They help to draw attention to your eyes and give you that immediate put together look, even without much fuss with makeup. if you’ve been a dedicated waxer, you know that spending a couple of minutes with your esthetician one to two times per month can make a world of difference. For those of you who haven’t ventured into the world of waxing, or for those who have and left disappointed, here’s some quick tips on how to get that great shape that flatters your facial features.

Brow Shaping 101:

1 – Natural is IN. Out are the days when super thin, penciled in eyebrows are in. If you’ve tweezed or waxed them too thin and they aren’t growing back? Good news, products like Peter Thomas Roth’s NEW Brows to Die For can help stimulate brow hair growth.

2 – A good arch will make all the difference. Everyone’s brows will have a unique arch based on the way the hair grows. Consult with your esthetician about the right shape for your face. A good rule of thumb for measuring where your brows should start and end?  Hold a makeup brush vertically along the side of your nose. Then use the side of the brush as the marker of where the brow should begin. Next, angle the  makeup brush outward so that the bottom end is against your nose, and the top and is even with the iris of your eye – this is the point where the brow should arch. Finally, angle the brush out even more toward the outermost corner of your eye – that’s where the brow should end.

3 – Brows aren’t perfect and often times you might need to fill in some gaps. Use a good brow pencil, like the gloBrow from gloMinerals to lightly feather in color to the areas where it’s needed.

Once you have created the shape that is right for your face, you’ll need to get them done every 2 to 4 weeks depending on your hair growth and your level of OCD with stray hairs :) . I get mine cleaned up every 2 weeks and it makes all the difference!

If you don’t get your brows done, you should try it out – it’s a great way to clean up your look!
