Sunscreen…it’s no longer ‘uncool’

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Gone are the days when baking in the sun all day is ‘cool’. Most smart women (and men) today wouldn’t be caught dead within 20 feet of tanning oil, let alone laying out without at least an SPF of 15 smothered on every exposed inch of skin.

Over the years, we’ve all been educated about the dangers of the sun and skin cancer. So what can you do to protect yourself before you end up looking 15 years older than you are?? Here are some quick inside tips from Facelogic Spa on how to stay sun safe and still enjoy the summer:

Tip #1 – Apply sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or more every morning. Make it part of your routine prior to putting on your makeup. Then you will be protected whether you are in the sun or not.

Tip #2 – Cover up! Hats, umbrellas, whatever it you like! Take a queue from the likes of Nicole Kidman, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfreid, and embrace your natural (albeit whiter) skin color. The 90s are over and unnatural shades of brown are not ‘in’.

Tip #3 – Reapply throughout the day. Everything in moderation might be a good motto for most things in life, but for sunscreen, the motto should be everything in excess! Pile that stuff on…and do it multiple times per day to stay protected.

Resist the urge this summer and protect your skin. Ask any beauty over 35 her anti-aging secret, and if she doesn’t include the liberal application of sunscreen in her answer…perhaps she has had a few rounds with the doctor.

Stay sun safe my friends!

My under eye miracle product!

the under eye miracle product!

Products on the market are so advanced now a days that most skin issues can be greatly minimized with over-the-counter serums, creams and treatments. One such skin issue that typically plagues people at one time or another is dark under-eye circles. While heredity and lack of sleep are usually to blame for dark circles, there are many outstanding products that can help minimize and mask them, leaving you with bright eyes – the perfect compliment to a gorgeous face!

My top two favorite products for reducing the appearance of dark circles are Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare’s Lift and Lighten Eye Cream and Eminence’s Wild Plum Eye Cream.

Why?

- Lift and Lighten Eye Cream – utilizes light diffusers to minimize eye discoloration and is packed full of Vitamins A, C, E and Peptides, as well as licorice extract which is a skin lightening agent. This product works best when applied after your moisturizer. However, I love to use it throughout the day under my eyes if they need a quick ‘wake-me-up’

- Wild Plum Eye Cream – this is a great anti-wrinkle, nourishing under-eye treatment, but the Vitamin K and eyebright ingredients help to reduce dark circles, heal broken capillaries and act as an anti-inflammatory. Like all Eminence products, it’s organic AND it smells delicious!

Looking for a quick brightening lift for your eyes? Try one of these products, they are dark-circle miracle workers!

mmmmm….Pumpkin!

yumm!

yumm!

There’s nothing better than some good pumpkin pie or pumpkin bread this time of year…but what about pumpkin facial treatments?? That’s right, not only can you have your pumpkin pie, you can beautify in it too!

Want a great at-home fall treatment? Facelogic Spa now offers a great one-two pumpkin punch with Peter Thomas Roth’s Pumpkin Enzyme Peel and Eminence Organic’s Pumpkin Latte Hydration Masque.

These pumpkin-based products work great together – start with the Pumpkin Enzyme Peel to detoxify your skin while gently dissolving dead surface cells and stimulting cellular turnover. Leave this treatment on for about 1 to 5 minutes depending on skin sensitivity. Remove the enzyme peel and finish your treatment with the nourishing Pumpkin Latte Hydration Masque to revitalize and hydrate your skin.

Not only will your skin feel great after this treatment, but the wonderful pumpkin smell from both products will perfectly prepare you for a nice slice of pumpkin pie. MMMMMMMM :) Warning: don’t eat the products…eat the pie! Enjoy!
